Katelyn “Katy” Dover, LPC-MHSP(temp), M.Ed., NCC

Katy graduated with her Master’s in Human Development Counseling from Vanderbilt University. She is a licensed professional counselor-MHSP (temp).

Katy works from a family-centered framework and believes it is important to work with parents as their children participate in therapy. She loves working with children and young teenagers who are struggling with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and adjustment issues.

Katy’s specialities include: trauma (EMDR), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and working with siblings of children who have special need. She works with ages 4-14 and also sees teen girls. Her other areas of interest include: anxiety, behavioral issues, depression, working with adopted/foster children, and adjustment and behavioral issues.

In her experience, Katy believes it is important to help those who have experienced trauma, believing that the sooner intervention is introduced the better. Katy utilizes play and art therapies to help young children process the event and for older children focuses on tools based on Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She is also being trained in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) in her work with younger children.

Her work focuses on interventions such as, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), mindfulness techniques, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). She also enjoys blending play and art therapy tools into her work with clients.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time at home with her cat, reading, stargazing, and crafting.
