Telehealth/Teletherapy

What is teletherapy?

Teletherapy is counseling interventions provided using live, online, video-conferencing. This allows clients to receive care without having to be in the same place at the same time. At the CFCC, we use secure, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing (via Google Hangouts) so that clients can reach their providers even when they cannot physically make it into the office.

What are the benefits of teletherapy?

Research has indicated that teletherapy is as good as in-person therapy for some conditions and treatment modalities. This makes teletherapy a good alternative if an in-person session is not possible.

What should I expect from a teletherapy session?

Teletherapy sessions are scheduled just like regular therapy appointments. We then send you an invitation to the session via Google hangouts. Before your first teletherapy appointment, we will have you sign a consent for teletherapy and get some information about where you expect to be and contact information for that location. At the beginning of each session, we will verify your location in case any safety issues arise. The rest of the session then typically progresses like a typical in-person session.
