Accessible, Convenient, and Effective
What is teletherapy?
Teletherapy, also known as online therapy or telehealth, involves providing counseling services through live, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing. This allows you to receive expert care without needing to be in the same location as your therapist. At the Child & Family Counseling Center (CFCC), we use secure platforms like Google Hangouts to ensure that your sessions are private, safe, and convenient.
The Benefits of Teletherapy
Teletherapy is proven to be just as effective as in-person therapy for many conditions and treatment types. Research shows that teletherapy can be highly effective for individual therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and family therapy. It offers a flexible solution for clients who may not be able to attend in-person sessions due to busy schedules, transportation issues, or health concerns.
Additionally, teletherapy improves access to care for residents across Tennessee, as our team of experienced therapists provides services to anyone in the state.
Dr. Blonder and Dr. Payne are also Psypact Certified, meaning they can offer telehealth services to clients in any state participating in the PSYPACT compact (view the map here).
What to Expect from a Teletherapy Session
Teletherapy sessions are just like in-person therapy but with the added convenience of being at home or another private space. Sessions are scheduled in advance, and you’ll receive an invitation via Google Hangouts to join the video session.
Before your first teletherapy appointment, we will have you sign a consent form for teletherapy and ask for details about where you’ll be during the session, as well as emergency contact information. At the beginning of each session, we’ll verify your location to ensure your safety in case of any emergency. Once everything is set, the session will proceed just as it would in person—focusing on your goals, progress, and the support you need.
Teletherapy for Clients Across Tennessee and Beyond
At CFCC, we are proud to offer teletherapy services to clients statewide in Tennessee. Whether you’re at home, at work, or another convenient location, you can access the care you need. Dr. Brown and Dr. Payne’s Psypact certification also extends our services to clients in any of the 42 participating states.
