Allison’s Approach to Therapy
The essential elements of Allison’s therapy practice are human connection, deep listening, skills coaching, humor, detective work, and perseverance. Her hope is that her clients will allow her to join with them wherever they are in readiness for change, and that they’ll leave the therapy session feeling a little lighter. She also offers a supportive space for those navigating spiritual or religious disillusionment. She can help you process challenging experiences and explore personal insights without judgment. See below for some (but not all!) of Allison’s commonly used treatment modalities and more specialty areas.

More about Allison’s Approach
I specialize in supporting adolescents (14+) and adults as they explore questions of identity, faith, relationships, and personal growth. My goal is to create a safe, affirming space where you feel understood and supported as you navigate life’s challenges.
Many of my clients seek therapy for concerns such as:
- Persistent feelings of anxiety or depression that interfere with daily life
- Adjusting to major life changes like starting college, moving away from home, or career shifts
- Difficult family situations, such as divorce, chronic illness in the family, unwanted moves, or strained relationships with parents or grandparents
- Wanting to build healthy communication skills, including assertiveness and boundaries in relationships
- Coping with past experiences or trauma that continue to impact the present
- Processing complex emotions in relationships with family, friends, and romantic partners
- Navigating faith transitions, deconstructing beliefs, or working through religious trauma
- Coping with perfectionism and self-critical beliefs
- Self-discovery around gender and sexuality, and seeking an affirming LGBTQ+ support system
- Issues related to adoption
Sometimes clients know something feels “off” but can’t put it into words. I specialize in asking the right questions to uncover what’s really going on. Together, we’ll work to develop healthier thought patterns, emotional regulation strategies, and communication skills that support your goals and relationships.
In addition to talk therapy, I also offer EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for clients healing from trauma—whether from a single event or ongoing/chronic experiences.
As a therapist, I am committed to providing affirming, culturally sensitive counseling that meets you where you are. I’m currently accepting new clients for in-person therapy in Brentwood, TN, and I also provide online therapy across Tennessee.
